Best loot you ever found in the TG tribute chest?

Post » Tue Aug 20, 2013 11:44 am

Recently finished the Thieve's Guild quest line and became Guildmaster. Checked the tribute chest which contained a small amount of gold and a gem, so not much of a tribute. Went back a couple in-game weeks later and it was empty (sigh).

Is it worth loading all those cells to reach this chest? What's the best item you've ever gotten - anything good like an enchanted item or a spell book, or is it always coins and jewels?

I've never gotten anything spectacular from the tribute chest...

the safe however, I've gotten decent loot from the safe... if you are willing to do enough radiant quests to get it...

Safe? Where's that - is it in one of the side rooms off the cistern? I remember one room has several chests (not the room with the double-key lock, a different room) but I didn't notice a safe.

you know those Shelves behind the Guild Masters Desk?

as you complete thieves guild Radiant quests, you get trophy's that appear behind it..

5 Radiant Quests you get a jeweled Candlestick
15 you get an ornate drinking horn
25 you get a golden ship model
35 a golden Urn
45 a jeweled Goblet
55 a jeweled Pitcher
75 a jeweled Flagon

and if you do 125 Radiant Quests for the thieves Guild, you get a safe next to the desk that respawns with alot of pricey loot.. to the point your character can live off the combined income of the Safe and Tribute chest....

Granted, if you do 125 Radiant Quests, you likely won't need the cash anyways...

Oh right! I read about this. I think Delvin's collectibles also appear here as part of the on-going larceny quest. I really don't think I have it in me to do 125 jobs. By that point, you'd have waaaay too much money. Thanks though, something to keep in mind when I need a break from the quest at hand...

There is definitely no way I would do 125 jobs. The 20 jobs from the cities is enough for me.

haha, I don't blame ya... the Radiant Quests do get boring...

Yeah, Delvins collectibles appear there as well, and you get the Crown of Barenziah on the bust behind it after you finish "No stone Unturned".

I think I could hit 40 if I apply myself. I only did the numbers jobs and the burglary/sweep jobs for the TG quest. Those seem to be the simplest. So moving forward, I'd try the other jobs just to get good but I don't think it'll take that long (hence the 40).

I wonder if the 'completionist' types count this 125 job requirement as part of their accomplishments when they post that they've 'finished' Skyrim? Might have to ask next time one of those threads pops up.

So it is a mix of the larceny trophies and the tally of jobs. That's pretty neat/cool. Still not motivating enough to do it....

I'd need some sort of amazing reward to do it (money is not interesting).

I completed 125 just so I could say I did it once, same with the Barenziah's Crown.....I never will again, it's too much of a grind just to get it over with. I didn't even need the money.

Nice! I was going to ask if anyone has actually done it. So... what's in the safe? Just money and jewels?

Also, did you limit the jobs to inside Riftin (just to save on travel) or did you do whatever they offered? I'd be tempted to just stick with Riftin...

More money and jewels, and if I recall correctly, a couple of pieces of enchanted jewelry, nothing to write home about. No way can you limit it to only Riften jobs, it would take too long and you'd die from boredom, not to mention having to reload saves if you didn't get assigned a Riften job to try again. I took jobs and did them when my character happened into the area, though I did plenty as soon as they were given to her. LOTS of traveling by foot and carriage.

Ok, so you did it, but by the time you finished, you were so rich it didn't matter. Also, the loot from the chest is relatively generic. So all this makes me wonder why it was added to the game - just something to grind out? I mean, if all you want to do is steal stuff, nobody is stopping you. You could do it regardless of the safe and the 125-job requirement.

I wonder if something better was suppose to be in the safe (a unique item like the Skeleton Key) and they just didn't get around to implementing it or they just couldn't come up with a balanced item. A couple of unique items that come to mind:

* A more powerful version of the Amulet of Articulation (almost max's out AC)

* Something that opens all locks

* Something that lets you climb vertically and enter/exit through windows

Regardless, as things stand, there's way, way, too many things to do that are more interesting than 125 side jobs. Kudos to you for doing it, though, 'cause omebody had to!

Thanks. My character was rich before she even started it, I just wanted to do it. :D You could be right about something better planned to be in it, but no way to know unfortunately. All I know is it was a pain to do.
