Poll for Quest Style

Post » Tue Aug 20, 2013 3:47 pm

I am trying to get a general consensus on what would be a more enjoyable quest style. Thanks to anyone who can share their opinion.

Option 1:

You get a bounty letter from an innkeeper/Jarl/Steward to go to a bandit camp. You can infer the quest giver knows the location, and marks it on your map. (Sometimes dialogue even mentions something like "Let me mark it on your map".

Option 2:

You get a bounty letter from an innkeeper/Jarl/Steward to go to a bandit camp. The quest giver gives you thorough directions that are recorded in your objectives, telling how to get to the location. No marker on your map involved.

Thanks for reading.

It really depends on what kind of mod you're setting up. Some people are fans of the more detailed, less directed 'Morrowind' style (Op 2). In my experience, however, a majority of people would probably prefer something closer to the first one. Mixing the two is usually a bad idea (As I've found) as people come to expect 1, so when you suddenly give them 2 they're totally lost and confused. (Or visa versa, they suddenly wonder where the detail went) As long as your consistent throughout, either one will be fine.

Yeah, consistency is key. Just want to hear some opinion's.

Myself, I am leaning towards full directions, as I've already written out basically all of them. Another thing I should mention, regardless of Option 1 or Option 2, clairvoyance will work. So option 2 with clairvoyance may be nice for some. Say your trying to find the location/item/person with the directions given, but you get totally stumped; you still have the option to use a somewhat lore-friendly hint.
