Frustration with Travelling for Work.

So I've been working at a glass shop for 2 years in Saskatchewan. I thought it was alright. It's not perfect, however. One thing that bugged me is that they don't pay overtime but they allow paid time off. I guess I'm okay with that but I'm losing out on money I would have been making if I was actually paid overtime. But I try not to work too much overtime for that reason so it's all good. Been like that for over a year until they asked me to travel 5 1/2 hours north in the middle of nowhere.

Now I don't [censored] about the work or where I am working at but it's the fact that I'm basically forced to sleep in a different bed and I hate that. Especially when I'm sharing a room with fatasses. Plus, I'm only getting paid 12.25 an hour and I don't get any incentives for being up there. There are a million jobs out there that pay more that don't have to travel and if I wanted to travel, I'd apply for a job that pays like twice as much plus an allowance. If you're gonna make your employees stay in a [censored] area at least make them excited to go.

At least I don't have it as bad as other guys. I only went like 4 or 5 times but it still kills the job for me. Other guys have been going at it for more than 6 months. And frustration is setting in for those guys as well. This worker who spends monday-fridays out of town expressed extreme dissatisfaction about how he was told he'd be working 2 weeks off and get 1 off and that didn't happen. He put in extra hours and they wouldn't even let him take one week off in a month so he's basically working overtime for free.

Now the one thing that was the last straw for me is that one monday morning my boss tells me to pack up my things because I'm going up north for the week with no notice at all. I expressed concern that it was too short of a notice and then he tells me that he didn't know and either I go up north or go home. I was pretty pissed off because my parents were out fishing and could have no idea where I was. They were the only ones who had a spare key to my house and I have a [censored] turtle at home.

At least I put in my 3 weeks notice. I'm going to be free from all that bull [censored].
