Heartfire: Library or Kitchen?

Post » Fri Aug 23, 2013 2:17 am

I have trouble picking between these two.

My wood elf made a home in Lakeview Manor, the place is getting really large.

She's a nature loving type so I gave her two gardens and a greenhouse, an animal farm aswell.

Other than that there's also the trophy room, which currently only has a spriggan, but I think I'll put some animals in there aswell.

There's still room for one area. And I can't pick between a kitchen and a library.

The thing is, the library has a balcony which gives a beautiful view of the lake, however, I'm not sure if my character is the type of elf that reads alot. She's more of a huntress, who is wise, but also very stubborn.

I am also considering the kitchen, which allows my character to have an oven, which seems to compliment the large dining table in the main hall. However, if I go for a kitchen then I won't have a balcony for the view. I suppose I can always walk outside and stare at the lake, but a balcony seems nice.

Damn, I'm torn between picking.

IIRC, the Library bugged me because it is two floors, so I had to run around alot when I was organizing my books. The kitchen on the other hand was awesome with tons of storage. Plus, it's the only way to Bake

Just be careful with some of the furnishings, as they are inconveniently placed, like the barrels or one of the tables (just save before picking each furniture item just in case you don't like the placement)

Yeah, I save alot.

So far I only got one barrel, which is at the end of the main hall, near the entrance of the cellar. I placed it there just for decoration, and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. But it's always best to be cautious.

Are you on PC?

If so, go Library and replace the extraneous storage space behind the dining room with http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26016//?.

In that case, go kitchen. The library tower doesn't actually give you that much of a view, having a very small deck and being on the side of the house facing the rock face.

I can't remember which one it is, but there are two barrels to choose from, and one put in crooked barrels and it just cluttered the place up. I think it is the second barrel option that adds more barrels, and it is that one that puts the crooked ones in.

I have found that the rooms look best with about 80% of the stuff bought, not all of it.

I build all the things in the hearthfire house and never noticed crooked barrels.
I probably have seen them, just not noticed them. Can you post an image so I know what barrels you mean. :)

My current female nord just completed her house at Lakeview as well. She has the greenhouse and various gardens. Being that the only other inhabitants of the home currently is Lydia (steward) and at some point, wife. No kids, no bard, no carraige driver, etc.

That being said, i went with the library just for the quiet time she might enjoy. Goes out adventuring for days on end, comes home and curls up with a copy of the Lusty Argonian Maid or whatever.

I think id do the kitchen if there were kids involved and if you had a full house. Otherwise if its just you, the pot by the fireplace is all youd need. But to each his own.
