In terms of performance and appearance which ones better?

AA as you crank it up past 4 starts to be a resource hog. If you think of FXAA as Hardware Accelerated AA, then you are not too far off. Problem is, it does not handle the large jaggies as well as AA does. What I do is run 4X AA and FXAA. Runs much faster than 8XAA and looks just as good, if not better in some places.
