You know, playing as a Vampire isn't bad at all

Post » Mon Aug 26, 2013 8:49 am

It's actually a lot of fun playing as a Vampire. Vampire Lord maybe a little bit overpowered but it's still fun killing things with Drain Life and then doing the Vader type choke on enemies. The negatives of being a Vampire are actually manageable in comparasion to Oblivion where you got killed if you were out in the sun past Stage 2 I think.

Health, Stamina and Magicka can be regened with equip effects. The lady Stone has been very helpful with Health and Stamina.

Nice Frost Resistance at a small cost of increased fire damage which can be negated with Fire Resistance equipments.

No more worrying about Rockjoint

The benefits of Necromage, etc.

I always thought the Vampire Lord was overrated but it's actually not. Overpowered might be the more accurate description but that's not a bad thing as certain enemies can still kill me if I'm not careful.

I thought it was fun for the duration of the DG quest line but within 1 hr of playing back in vanilla Skyrim I was getting bored with it. Stopped using any of the vamp benefits and by the time I started Dragon Born i had to cure myself of it(no biggie) because it was just a real neusance.

My conclusion~ it's fun in small doses but not when it's permanent.

The only thing I dislike about vampirism is the appearance.

The eyes are okay, but the bloodline and all doesn't seem to work out very well for me.

I only liked the appearance for elves, wood elves especially. But Nords seem to get it pretty badly, atleast for me.

Lord Molag Bal likes this one! xD

Vampires are great, and Vamp Lord is just BOSS.

Which is my issue with it, gaining these powers which are supposedly bad only offer pros, but never cons. Reminds me of a http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1470876-whats-the-point-of-drinking-blood-as-a-vampire/ about vampirism and how some things are just pointless considering it's all benefits with no consequences. It's as if developers forgot this was suppose to be a curse.

The most fun I have ever had with any character in all of TES is a Vampire, prior to Dawnguard. At that time one could become a Vampire straight out of Helgen, wait a week and then play the entire time as a Stage 4, 24-7. You were forced to utilize Illusion and benefit from the bonuses. After getting a certain ring, you can feed on corpses and actually get stronger by doing so.

The main element that made it so fun, was the AoS mechanic. The only real negative impact from being a Vampire. Sadly, Dawnguard changed all of that and made it absolutely stupid. Thankfully, I had made the move to PC shortly after and can use mods to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybh6IIenkGo.

EDIT - On a side note :

I'd actually welcome being burnt to a crisp in direct sunlight. And I utterly hate that damn red line across the lips of the Vanilla Vampires. I never took up with the Vampire Lord, because I felt it was a carbon copy of the movie character. Visions (spelling) was inspired by the character from the films, but he didn't have to duplicate it.

Either way, I didn't like the fact that you can't go through doors. And I don't consider it to be all that OP'd. In fact, using the glitch to exploit the character form the Necromage perk is being overpowered.

There's nothing wrong with playing as a vamp...looking at their face and taking them serious post Dawnguard and that damn lip line is the hard pill to swallow.
