Horizontal ghostly looking lines-Help please?

Post » Tue Aug 27, 2013 9:17 pm

Hey guys, i am really hoping someone here can help me as this is driving me crazy.

When ever i play Skyrim i get this lines appear horizontally across my screen when ever there is a large amount of movement in the game (when ever i look around or turn with my mouse), they look almost as if a thin long magnifying glass is being run down my screen.
Someone on a different forum reckoned it was to do with 2d and 3d profiles so i went into msi afterburner and set the 2d as low as possible and 3d at the normal speed (950mhz). how ever though there are not as many at any one point they are still there and very noticeable.

My PC specs are as follows:

Windows 7 home premium
I5 3570k @ stock speed
MSI Twin FrozrIII 7850 2GB
8GB corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram
P8Z77V-LX Motherboard
And a 600W corsair builder series power supply
Also i use a HDMI cable straight from my graphics card to monitor so there is no conversion that could mess it up as some other people have.

I played Skyrim to bits on Xbox 360 and have been dying to play it on my new PC especially as i have DLC i have never got to play on here.
I cannot put into words how much i will appreciate any help as i have time off work and wanted to get my game on ><

Thanks, burnsyb0y.

Have yo uspent much time fiddling with the graphics settings? Its much more touchy than the xbox, and its auto-detect usually fails spectacularly. The first hting you should do is mess with anti-aliasing. Also are your drivers up to date?

I have AA all the way up as i am confident my PC can handle it seeing as it can do BF3 on ultra fine though i have tried changing it about, it did not change a thing though.
My catalyst control center version is 13.04 and my Driver Packaging Version is 12.104-130328a-157485C-ATI (got the info from my CCC software info to be accurate)

You should use a DVI cable instead, better for connecting PC monitors to video cards for playing games. Unless your monitor is really a TV and your just using an extra input.

Also, try turning off things like MSI Afterburner or the Catlyst Control Panel and instead let the game process the graphics rather than the control panel.

Finally, does this effect go away when you adjust AA?

I would use DVI but the connection on my monitor is different from the one on my graphics card.
I will do, i never knew that you could actually turn CCC of as i though it was needed to play games.
It does not, it happens no matter what my AA is set to.

EDIT: I have a DVI-I port on my Graphics card but a DVI-D on my monitor and i cant find any cables to connect the two (both are dual link).
