INIs

Post » Wed Aug 28, 2013 7:35 pm

Hi,

I recently installed Hud status bars and Realistic fatigue, among other few mods. I mention these specifically, because when I start the game both of these mods create a pop-up message telling me that they cannot find their ini files in the data/ini folder and hence they will not work accordingly. The thing is that the ini files are there, however it got me thinking. Those are not the only mods which I have that use ini files. Perhaps none of them are detected. Is there something I need to enable in Wrye Bash for the inis to work. Is it something to do with the ini tweaks tab? As far as I understand it allows to create specific tweaks for inis, however, they have to be placed in the 'ini tweaks' folder. It also allows me to browse to an ini file and edit it. Is there a difference if I edit an ini via Bash or manually?

Anyway, my primary concern is that these two mods definitely, perhaps more, cannot, for some reason, detect their inis, although they are in the data/ini folder.

Any ideas?

Quick check, are you using OBSE and starting the game through the OBSE launcher?

Yes, I'm using OBSE launcher, usually through Wrye Bash.

The ini's for those two mods should actually be in the data folder itself. Most ini's go in data/ini but not all. Just cut and paste them into the data folder. Should be good to go.

Edit: I'm second guessing myself. Not sure about HUD status bars and Realistic Fatigue. That could be the case though.

IIRC Hud Bars (there are two I believe) belongs in the ini folder of the data folder. Not sure about Realistic Fatigue though. Check the Readme for more accurate information.

The ingame HudBars pop-up specifically states that it cannot find the ini in data/ini, despite it being there when manually browsing the folder. So I'm really at a loss here. Going to try some more fumbling.

Any chance you installed the game in Program Files?

No, as a precaution it is under C:/Games/Bethesda Softworks. Furthermore, I have disabled the UAC, so I'm not even sure what could be causing the problem. Is it the settings of my PC, Oblivion or some other mod conflict, though I think the latter is not logical.

Hmmm... Any chance the inis are blank?

So this tread got me thinking to just where the numerous and assorted .inis are found in my personal game. As I recall it took weeks to sort out the various mod interactions and browse the readmes. Hoping this makes it a little easier for you.
