Your creepiest moments in Skyrim

Post » Wed Aug 28, 2013 1:44 pm

Does anyone else think that Skyrim can be really creepy at times?

The creepiest moment that I had in Skyrim was when I explored some shipwreck west of Dawnstar. Damn wreckage was crawling with Mudcrabs and things like that creep me out both in the game and in real life. It was dark and claustrophobic. I could not even take five steps without scanning the entire area with the Detect Life spell. I would have stayed away from that shipwreck if it was not for a note written by some dead treasure hunter that directed me there (even that note mentioned that the treasure was guarded by a Mudcrab).

The less creepier moment that I had took place in the volcanic plains between Kynesgrove and Darkwater Crossing. It was early in the morning, the weather was cloudy and foggy. I was walking along when I noticed a dead Mammoth in front of me. Suddenly the fog around me began to dissipate and then I noticed a Giant behind that carcass, surrounded by the smoke of a nearby pond. Just stood there as if he had been waiting for me. Not the creepiest moment but still very atmospheric.

What are your creepiest moments in Skyrim?

Got home with a stray dog. My daughter and her pet snow fox come to greet me.

"A Doggy! Papa, I didn't-"

Suddenly, dog turns hostile without reason. Dog brutally kills snow fox. Dog attacks immortal girl and get killed.

I had to move. Begin a new life you know, far away from those terrible memories.

Creepiest moment for me was entering a Lighthouse to find a bunch of dead bodies and a strange sound coming from the basemant. I unlocked the basemant only to descover the only monster in Skyrim that scares me besides Draugr.

Today I was attacked at night by an invisible Khajiit. I only realized what was happening because my follower flung a fireball in the general direction and the flames revealed where the enemy was. Even after we killed it, it remained invisible.

I use an ENB config which makes the nights nearly pitch black. So pretty much every night is a creepy moment after another for me :(

Being an arachnophob anything that has to do with frostbite spiders. Especially when the giant ones come down from the ceilings.

I posted this on an earlier thread....

The creepiest thing I've seen by far - keep in mind I don't like zombies, vampires, horror movies etc. my tolerance is low. My PC was in Fort Greenwall, having just cleared the exterior zone. She started working through the interior and found a dead high elf in a cell (well, one of those dark-skinned elves, don't know the lore-correct designation for that race) and it was possible to loot the body without opening the cell. She looted his robes and stuff and the body suddenly began to spasm and flail, like a fit. The limbs were bending the wrong way and it was just smashing itself against the cage and stone floor. The slapping sounds of the body against the ground and metal cell were really nasty and it didn't stop! The entire time she was sneaking around the interior zone, the sounds of that flailing corpse were softly floating in the air. Totally creeped me out, totally.

A subsequent post said that this happened because I didn't open the cell door - I could go back and open the cell door to clear it. Good to know, but I'm not going back... ever. Besides, I think the last time I passed there the Riftin guard were manning it.

Frostflow light house. Not necessarily when I first entered, I've seen just as bad, but only after reading the bloody notes, visualizing the story, and such did I start to get a little creeped. What really began to freak me was seeing that huge queen charus in the frozen bowels of that place. After slaying the beast over several deaths I looted the corpse for the eggs and chitin only to find a chill running down my spine...

Poor spiders...me, since I learned (when I was only a kid) that they eat mosquitoes, I have never killed a spider again.

...in RL, at least

I dont know if it was creepy, awesome, or a mixture. In the Hircine's hunt quest when you go after the werewolf... you enter the pass and everything is misty and red. Dead bodies and struggling to live khajiit telling you his last words.... And then I sided with the beast, so HA. Take that Hircine.

The 1.9 lingering Beth bug that randomly rolls NPC eyes to the back of their head. Talk to them, their eyes snap fo'ward.

I've been in therapy since it's release.

If PC and you mod, try Sounds of Skyrim - Dungeons. Excellent.

The Draugr howl....

The creepiest thing that happend to me was when I first started playing Skyrim. It was night and a skull floated down stream in front of me. I tell you, I drank all my stamina potions running away.

I was just running along a river at night, and there was this boulder ahead - got RIGHT next to it when it suddenly turned with huge claws snapping at me.... :ahhh:

it was, of course just a mudcrab. Nearly gave me a heart attack.

Werewolves in the distance are probably the creepiest though I haven't seen any yet. My scariest "jump" moments usually come from Falmer caves. They can really scare you, and their raspy snarl is always shocking.
