How to gearequip Aranea

Post » Fri Aug 30, 2013 4:19 am

Hello!

Wondering who has used Anarea Lenitha bit and tried out different gear? On UESP it says that she has only 20 in Light Armor.. I guess I should put light armor on her? I was thinking of putting Master Destruction Robes on though. She only get that much out of having the light armor bonus from light armor.

Even though she's level 30 she looks like she will be one of if not the best mage followers due to her skillset. With some double enchants I could bring her up to about level 50ish with some stamina and magicka/destruction cost enchants. Other followers I've used are faendal, lydia (a lot) and jenassa (now), I am level 92 on legendary difficulty. Don't have Aranea yet but will soon.

Looking at her perks list on UESP it says she has mage armor rank 1. Mage armor increases armor from spells like Stoneflesh if the caster is wearing all cloth. I know that some NPC casters when they become followers they stop using certain spells, but i think that is just casted spells not perks.

EDIT: but of course i dont know how to spells scale at higher levels. I thought that Jzargo was a better choice anyways since he caps out at i think level 81?

Nah J'Zargo is really bad, all his scaling means is that he's got stats. His knowledge is spells is reallly limited.. i.e. he will cast the lowest shock spell sparks most of the time.

Just a thing with Aranea - unless you're on PC, since her default outfit is hooded robes, you MUST give her something with an armor rating for the head if you want her to take it off - the Diadem of the Savant is a good option if you don't want her to wear a helmet. And since she will have armor on her head, you might just as well give her armor for the rest of the body. Make sure her things have fortify magicka and/or health enchantments, give her magicka potions and maybe a staff as back-up, and you'll have one of the better mages in the game.

Hi and thanks. I am on PC so that should be okay, I was thinking of giving her master robes of destruction. And enchant other things with like you said. I just found out on PC that you can getav "stat" like health etc and "setav stat" in the console, So to bring her up to level 40 I will give her Illia's stats. I just tested it out with Jenassa and it seems that the stats do stay after exiting/reloading the save. I'll see if I can find a couple of staffs for her like ice spear/thunderbolt to use too! And i didn't think about the potions.. good idea!

Actually I just read that fortify destruction or magic school enchants won't decrease the cost of spells for followers.. so no use it getting master robes of destruction then.

Isn't there a set of unenchanted robes for sale at Radiant Raiments? (Or there probably is a mod for it, or you can add it with the console)? In that case, you can put fortify magicka on it instead.

Try giving her Elsweyr Fondue, too. I know Marcurio drinks those like he's addicted, maybe Aranea does too.
