Caster fun

Had never played a pure mage before, always used weapons.

But I must say I am having such good fun with just spells - really makes a new game of it and some quite intense strategic battles.

Wish I had done it sooner!!

Well your better than I am. I've tried several times to be a pure Mage but end up running into the Imperial City and buying the biggest sword I can find.

I'm so pleased you're having fun with a mage! I confess that Oblivion was the first game I ever played where I was able to be comfortable playing a mage. I do think the ability to make custom spells really made the diff for me. Oh, and the lack of having to memorize them the night before like D&D requires.

I agree, mages can be fun. :sorcerer: I've had at least 2 pure mages in Oblivion and one in Skyrim. One of the mages in OB carried an enchanted sword, but only used it maybe 10% of the time.

I found that in both games, mages are particularly weak & vulnerable when they're in their lower levels, but as they attain more powerful spells, eventually they can become Ubers.

:mage:

It got to the point in Oblivion that one of my mages (The Grey Wizard) got so powerful, I could only stand to game with him for a couple hours or so. He simply mopped the floor with any enemy he met, could summon daedroth, go invisible, throw giant lightning bolts. Nobody could stand in his way.

The challenge was mostly gone in his game, but i still enjoyed gaming with him for 2 or 3-hour stretches.
