So, I've been running Oblivion for quite a few years now. While there are various Wikis, guides, forum posts, etc. that provide various tips and so forth for modded Oblivion I very quickly found a need to maintain my own documentation to keep track of what I did for every utility, mod, INI tweak, etc. over time so I could actually remember.
It's grown over time and currently stands at about 122 pages.
(This came in very handy when I had to replace my hard drive a few years back).
At various points a few people have asked me for a copy of the document. I've typically been cautious about giving copies of it out, given that it tends to be pretty specific to my individual settings and preferences and mod choices. It's not the kind of thing that I'd want people to look at as any kind of definitive document on which mods to choose or which options to pick. In some cases I'm not even running the most recent version of specific mods because of conflicts or other things. I realize I'm on my own with that, given that most modders only want to support the most recent version of things they've released, so I wouldn't want to undermine that but at the same time have reasons for doing what I'm doing.
On the other hand, I've personally found it useful for keeping track of things like what mods that I run require patches for each other, which may have conflicts and so forth. I think it also illustrates the kinds of things that need to be considered (like conflicts, cleaning, mesh optimzation, install order, etc.) when installing each individual mod that I happen to be running, especially in combination with some other mods.
Since I've recently received another request for the document I'm wondering if this kind of thing is actually something people would want to see published (or not). I'd have to polish it a bit, since it's really written for myself. At the same time, if people feel this kind of document might be useful I'd be willing to publish it in kind of a "use at your own risk" state after I do some format changes to it .
