Should my Level 41 Dark Elf become a vampire?

Post » Sun Sep 01, 2013 3:33 pm

I sided with the Dawnguard and tried out being a vampire back at level 20 to get into the Soul Cairn, but should he become a vampire again? What's the benefit? Besides for role-playing purposes, are there any real reasons? People always recommend it, is all.

Unless you're playing a good guy, I don't see why not.

It's fun, badass and there are no drawbacks.

There are drawbacks, such as no health, stamina or magicka regeneration in daylight and the need to feed every few days? What do I get in return?

EDIT: Also, no, my guy is pretty much just a mercenary who does anything to earn cash.

reason Vampire characters are so powerful is Necromage, a perk in the restoration tree..

it make Magic have more effect on the Undead, but since your Vampire character is considered undead by the game, your spells do more damage, enchantments are more powerful, etc..

i hate vampire and the way it 's implemented in TES so i'd say no

vampiric drain is nearly useless , vampires don't have interesting powers like face-changing , illusionist powers or useful levitation/telekinsesis powers , the drawbacks are ridiculously kind and vampire lord seems really cheap to me , i think they made it for kids

luckily there is the mod "better vampires" where feeding actually gets you more powerful and plenty of other immersive features , but that won't help people on consoles though

If you use illusion magic, then it will help allot. Otherwsie with the all the draw backs, it's quite time consuming to manage working around the weaknesses etc... but if you want a challenge, then it's certainly that i'd wager.

You could, I went to the Soul Cairn as a Vampire. Personally, I think Vampires are cool, they're mean, nasty, and overall... badass. Twilight is the complete opposite lol. But when you go back to the Dawnguard, they'll tell you to talk to someone in Morthal to cure your vampirism so you can complete the Dawnguard storyline but it requires a filled Black Soul Gem. But if you want to be a Vampire after the storyline, just ask Serana to turn you into a Vampire again.

Eh... You can if you want. I've done it on a few characters but ended up curing them because the whole "no anything-regen during the day" thing really svcks. I didn't make the character to play during the night all the time or chug potions. Its not really a big deal if your character is a mage type, but for others that arnt so magic oriented it svcks.

Do it for a while, then when you get bored change them back. That's what I do.

I meant relevant drawbacks.

Why, all that power and abilities in Vampire Lord form of course.

Easily dismissed with a ward or Spellbreaker. :P

As you are here looking to be convinced by others to do this, you don't really want to do it. So don't.

You know, now that I think about it, if they've been a vampire before then why would the OP not know if there's any benefits?

I literally become one to enter the Soul Cairn and then instantly got it cured afterwards.

Those drawbacks are extremely easy to overcome. Just get the lady stone and have a magic recovery item and that solves the no regenerating problem. Vampire Royal Armor is an outstanding choice if you use Light Armor. If it's a heavy armor focused character then put a Magic Recovery ring along with the Lady Stone. The fire weakness isn't an issue with a Dark Elf character and fire resistance equipment can deal with the fire weakness.

Theres alot of really good RP'ing possibilities as a vampire. After reading the skyrim blog, for me theres no other way to play. But i embrace the darkness and always love playing evil characters.
