I think thats just because of lack of interest from developers side. Just lack of marketing strategy. And how that can be after you say, thats the game is "so far, our masterpiece".
The game is really brilliant, I love its solid scifi slant. And I dont understand, how Cryengine developers can recognize they defeated on their face game product.
Everyone knows CryTek for their FarCry and Crysis. Failing on master franchise is not just financial failing. This is image falling for game and software developer both. I dont believe CryTek surrenders so easy, and their participation in Humble Origin Bundle is just speaks about it.
Otherwise, if they washed their hands, I just want to know it from official source.
Wait...I don't think we're on the same page here. When you said words like "development" and "DLC" I immediately assumed you're talking about multiplayer, because that's the ONLY area where EA/Crytek planned for the game to expand (this was confirmed before C3 was even released). Lost Islands is the only multiplayer DLC so far and it did more damage than good, I posted why I felt that this game is best left alone with no more maps/modes added, it only needs bug fixes and balancing.
So when you bring up Far Cry and Crysis I'm a little confused, those games were huge successes purely as stand-alone singleplayer games with no DLC to speak of.
Crysis 3 is also a relative success in terms of singleplayer, Crytek haven't "failed" on their master franchise at all as far as sales and reception go, dunno why you would say that. Alright so the campaign was really short and difficulty was piss-easy (I want to see the next Crysis game be a LOT longer and far more difficult), granted, but it still scored well overall.
There are two completely separate sides when discussing things on this forum - singleplayer, and multiplayer. All my gripes so far have only been about multiplayer, the majority of the "Crytek have failed" part only applies to multiplayer.
I feel Crytek are bit clueless in terms of knowing what makes a solid multiplayer foundation seeing as how they completely kicked ALL ideas from Crysis 1 MP to make a CoD-style Crysis 2 MP, and then kicked tons of good ideas from Crysis 2 MP to have the brainless one-shot-fest "catering to newbies" BS that is Crysis 3 MP.
It's like...holy balls, talk about repeatedly missing the mark.
