Galaxy News Radio issue...

So, I just completed the GNR "Go get the satellite dish and install it" quest. Talked to Three Dog and I'm on my way to Rivet City. Only problem is that GNR's music won't come through my Pip-Boy... But when Three Dog talks and makes announcements it works just fine. All the other radio channels work, and the juke-box at my house plays the GNR music just fine. What gives?

Tried:

  • Deactivating batches of mods to see if one was the problem. No dice.
  • Installing Galaxy News Radio Enhanced and/or Fallout Remastered to see if that would fix it. No Dice
  • Going back a few saves and re-completing the quest. No dice.

Other Info:

  • All mods and load order have remained unchanged since I started this character.
  • Game is stable for +3 hours at a time. Crashes seem to be related to extra spawns through MMM & FWE. In conjunction with all the high-res texture's I'm using (NMC's Performance Pack, High res textures, high res weapon textures).
  • Some Ghouls in the Museum of History or whatever are invisible (gun shop and patrolling repair dude). But still work fine otherwise.
  • Using a standard Merged Patch through FO3Edit. Not a Bashed Patch from Wrye Bash.
  • Did the proper .ini tweaks and other doo-dads for multi-core crashes, stuttering, and large-address-aware on the executable.
  • Obviously using the current version of FOSE.
  • Using the newer all-in-one Unofficial FO3 Patch. Zero issues with it besides a couple invisible Ghoul vendors and my GNR problem.

I had lost my radio for a while recently, but that does not bother me as I don't listen to it...

This is either a mod issue or a codec issue. I doubt it's codecs as the other music plays, but try the following with GNR music tracks and see if there are any issues.

Codecs

You may want to set a system restore point before doing this. You are not doing anything dangerous, but a media program may have to be reinstalled if you disable the wrong codec.

You can determine exactly which codec may be causing the problem by using:

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ (freeware).

Install it, load a music sound file from the game (look in the Data Folder in the install directory), render it with the MS A/V buttons at the bottom of the window. Button 1 will display what codec is being used - the middle item. Button 2 will play the file, if you can hear it play then the codec is working. If you can't hear the file play then you may have found the problem, the middle item in the list at the bottom of the window is the codec that is in use. You can use the "InstalledCodec" application to disable that codec, then reload the codecs in GSpot and try again until you find the codec that may be the problem.
