Wouldn't the Thalmor have to invade Akavir?

If the theory of the Thalmor's ultimate plan is to undo reality by removing the gods is correct, of course.

I can't recall the local names, but aren't the natives of Akavir reported to worship an aspect of Akatosh? And if they worship Akatosh, would they worship and other of the Eight Divines? (I seriously doubt they even know about Talos)

So, if the Thalmor do want to extinguish worship in the gods, wouldn't they only be half-way done if they succeed in Tamriel?

And while we're at it, could they even invade Akavir? We know how disastrously terrible it went for Uriel V... And that was during the long climix of Imperial power.

Would they ever be able to invade Akavir? And then move on to remove the gods all together? How could the Dominion do a better job than Uriel's Legion?

I thought the Thalmor just wanted Talos out of the picture.

Well the theory is that they believe that reality is a trap and that the Mer are descended from Aetherius, the Immortal Plane. They think the god Lorkhan, who had a thing for humankind and tricked the gods into creating reality, is preventing the Mer from taking their rightful place as immortal gods.

Only want to get rid of Talos

Akaviri people probably dont worship Talos, but will have some Lorkhanic figure in their pantheon.

Ya good luck with that. It took several living Gods including one with CHIM just to beat a single Akaviri invasion force which had already devastated most of Northern Tamriel. The Thalmor has enough problems with their enemies on Tamriel to even think of drawing the Akavir into the fray.

Vivec granted the Dunmer the ability to breathe underwater and apparently had to flood Morrowind entirely just to flush the Kamal out. Unless the Thalmor could do something like that they'd be getting butchered in Akavir.

That being said the Akaviri or at least the Tsaesci seem to have a high reverence for Dragonborns as was seen when they pledged fealty to Reman in the first era. Hmmm maybe if the last Dovahkiin was to travel to Akavir and gain their support....

Or if the Nerevarine was a Dragonborn. Dragon-Born and Far-Star-Marked.

From what I understand, I hear it's debatable whether "Dragon-born" and Dragonborn mean the same thing. That being said what in Oblivion has the Nerevarine been doing this whole damn time?
