Hello , I recently installed Morrowind and both of its expansions, and the installation went fine, however when I opened the launcher and went to the options; the launcher would not have my NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M as an option to select. It would only let me use my integrated graphics. After this I went to my NVIDIA control panel and set Morrowind to only use my NVIDIA GPU. However it still did not show my GPU as an option in the launcher. I found that in the launcher; by selecting windowed mode in the options and exiting options , then returning to the options; it would display my NVIDIA GPU as the selected graphics adapter.
After this I assumed that my GPU was the graphics adapter for the game and began to play. As soon as i stepped off the boat in the intro; I immediately saw an fps drop when looking into the distance. I have a Laptop which is capable of running current gen games at high, so running Morrowind on max settings should not be a problem at all. Clearly it was using my integrated graphics and not my NVIDIA GPU. I carried on playing for a while until i had finished character and class creation and was allowed to explore. Just walking/running through the world would give me very frequent FPS drops to around 30 and the highest it would achieve was 45. During combat I experienced 20 fps and sometimes as low as 12. This is clearly the intergrated graphics running, and not the NIVIDIA GPU.
I have never had this problem with any games, apart from Diablo 2; which is also a rather old game. The difference with Diablo 2 is that i had a "Video Test" program and it allowed me to select what graphics adapter I was using. Right after selecting my NVIDIA GPU in the "Video Test" program; Diablo 2 was running perfectly with no FPS drops at all.
A solution would be greatly appreciated as I can not wait to begin playing this game.
