Player camera bugged?

Post » Sat Sep 07, 2013 2:30 pm

How come is it that in third person, my high elf's height is the same as others, but when I switch to first person, it's like talking to their chest basically? (literally half a head shorter).
Is there a fix for this? Serious atmosphere killer when trying to RP.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6508/?

I believe that http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29624/? also does this...and a whole lot more.

And yes, this oversight is entirely unforgivabale for this long. This is a fix that literally takes less than 5 minutes in Nifskope...even for somebody as incompetent as me where it is concerned.

That's weird. My Altmer characters are always a head taller to other characters at minimum. Sometimes more. And they always seem to run faster because of their height. I play on Xbox 360.

The first person camera is set too low, which is why many people complain that it's like their eyes are set in their chests. This has been an issue ever since 11-11-11 and TBH the fact that it has not been fixed despite the fact that it's literally a 5 minutes or less fix is unforgivable.

Unforgivable is an understatement, it's absolutely disgusting for this to even have existence in a ROLE PLAYING GAME. And as you said, it's 5 minutes worth of fixing. Come on now Bethesda, dear christ...

Just checked my Altmer female on Xbox 360. She's standing a head taller than a Nord male in third person. In first person she is looking down at him. Either this is a PC bug or mod conflict issue.

It's not that simple, nor is it a "5 minute fix"

The first person camera uses the same exact skeleton for all the races. So you modify it, it modifies every race.

In other words, it requires a complete re-programming of the entire system.

Did you actually read those mods? You have to choose a height. Because it cannot adjust for any race. Because they all use a universal first-person skeleton. I agree, it is unforgivable. But to say that it is an easy fix is false. Did you notice the Skyrim Script Extender REQUIRED?

That is not a 5 minute fix. And for consoles, that's like, complete re-coding.

Wrong again. Skyrim was probably in pre development when Oblivion was released. Most definitely by Fallout 3. Skyrim was in no way rushed. What was going to be or not be in Skyrim was determined way before a release date was considered.

11/11/11 was simply chosen because it was a catchy release date. A nice marketing ploy. :)

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32155//?

i'm using the above^ and it works fine, I guess anyway. It works better than what I used previously which would screw up hand positioning in first person.
Still, whoever made it, surely makes it simple to understand, and he's not a game developer surely, he doesn't work at Bethesda, but he made it work. I never use mods because I like to play the game pure (unless it's aesthetics), so this was a punch in the face from Bethesda.

Saying it's not a five minute fix might be wrong. What's stopping Bethesda to apply the above mechanics in their own, better way into the game with a full team of very experienced developers who made a ground breaking role playing series? Ahem...

If they wanted to, they would of done it already. Absolutely stupid that such a major thing to some people has not been even touched yet. The point here is that they've not even ACKNOWLEDGED this, ANYWHERE.

Honestly. What?

This is a problem with the skeleton, yes, but it is a problem with the first person point of view being set too low for the taller races. It is a simple fix, it is a fix that even I managed to accomplish in Nifskope in about 5 minutes.

...and I refuse to argue points with you, this thread is not yours or mine to do this in, if you wish to continue this conversation, you will be doing it alone. Good night!!!

5 minutes? No SKSE? No having to toggle for different heights? Do share.

That's for anyone wanting to fix this (Even though it should be in game... dear god.)
It works good, all your characters will now be on level in first person according to their racial height. It adjusts it all by itself depending on your race. You can also change height of your characters but that's not something i'll be using.

Sent a mail to bethesda asking if they even acknowledged this problem.
