[RELz] Frostfall - Thread 11 - 2.5 Released

Post » Mon Sep 09, 2013 5:36 am

Oh my god yesss.

Questions:

-Using both iHUD and Less Intrusive HUD II. How will Frostfall's new meters work with these two? Will the aforementioned mods need some sort of compatibility patch so that I can mess around with the Frostfall meters freely? I ask because I like Less Intrusive HUD II and have all my meters at the bottom left scaled down by 75%, and would be pretty excited if a frostfall patch were included for LIH II that let me freely move/rotate/scale the new meters.

-SPERG by seorin modifies the Mage Armor perk to make armor spells permanent, I'm assuming that the new skin spells added by FF are similar to the standard armor spells. My only concern with this is that with SPERG and its modified Mage Armor perk (permanent armor spells, 4x effectiveness instead of 3x when not using armor), these spells will in fact break the gameplay element added by Frostfall in the sense that you'll only need to cast them once and keep a permanent 40, 80, or 120 exposure protection rating.

I'll test out the spells and report back to you.

Just fine.

Since I own the spells in question, and I simply check whether or not the player has the Mage Armor perk, I doubt this will be an issue. I am not "inheriting" the magnitude or power of any of the spells pre-existing in the game or inheriting anything from the perk itself.

Alright, tested out the spells. They don't get the bonuses from SPERG so that's good. However I do think they're getting the scaling bonuses from it because the wolfskin spell gave me 20 exposure protection for like 700 seconds. Not too much of a bother, though.

As for the meters, I like them. The fact that you can make them short and thin is a really great thing, and the positioning is incredible. I guess my only gripe with them is that the fade-away timer only moves in increments of 2 (so no 5 second fade-away), but that's a minor gripe.

Everything about this update is amazing, and I haven't even gotten around to the rest of the features yet.

We are definitely putting this in our "Top mods that no Skyrim install should be without" list over at Something Awful, this mod is something that should have been in the game from the get-go, even if it was only limited to a hardcoe mode like New-Vegas. You really outdid yourself on this one!

Thanks for the update! I've only checked out the new meters so far and I like them a lot. One thing I noticed is that they seem to be connected to the compass. I'm using the compass hot key feature in Immersive HUD and the meters don't show up when having them on "always on" unless I toggle the compass to be visible. Doesn't matter at all to me as I basically get one hot key for compass plus meters that way, but I guess it means that the meters won't show up on the default setting (when you get cold etc.) if having the compass toggled off.

Is the "SkyUI Always On" option in ImmersiveHUD activated? Also try setting them to pop up when you use the Weathersense key. I have it set that way and they work just fine.

I'll check that. Meanwhile, in the middle of a fight the meters suddenly popped up and now it works without the compass, i.e. they are always on if having them configured that way, even with the compass toggled off. Skyrim is a peculiar game.

EDIT: That said, it would be nice to be able to have the meters toggleable via a hotkey IMO.

It seems I can cast the same cloak spell and the effects stack? Or at least, the effect entry will stack in the effects list. Casting the other cloak spell will dispel the first one, though, along with any stacked effects.

From my sticky on the Nexus page:

You won't receive stacked bonuses, but I'll take a look at this for the next point release, thank you.

You can do this by setting the Weathersense Mode to one of the Meter variants and then pressing the Weathersense hotkey. This works even if you have the Meters set to display "Off", meaning they will not display at all unless you press the Weathersense hotkey.

That was it. I hadn't Sky UI Always On activated.

Cool - I had missed that. All options work fine, except "Meters only" - I don't get any meters (or anything) then. Having meters off and "Gem only" with the Weathersense hotkey is as immersive as it gets.

Yep, you're right. That one's broken. I added that one last. Damn. Good catch. Wrote it down to be fixed in the next point release.

PSA: Sneak Tools seems to be fully compatible with Frostfall 2.5 (particularly the campfire lighting / putting out). They seem to trade off with each other in a very seemless way. Which is great because I totally didn't design it to do so

Is this still compatible with SkyRe, with the new spells and such?
