Elder Scrolls Anthology's dos games on win98?

Post » Wed Sep 11, 2013 6:18 am

I'm very interested in upcoming collection of Elder scrolls games.

Arena and Daggerfall especially, but my biggest question is,

will The Elder Scrolls Anthology's Arena and Daggerfall run on windows 98?

Does the cds have original installer or are they modified for never systems with dosbox?

As an old school gamer, I'd like to play these two games on real dos machine.

How is Windows 98 a "real dos machine"?

In any case, you don't need to buy the anthology to play Arena and Daggerfall, they're available as free downloads - both the original version and a pre-configured DOSBox setup. But if you buy it, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1473087-faqs-for-the-elder-scrolls-anthology/ should explain everything. As you can read, they include a pre-configured version of DOSBox.

I know Daggerfall can run on Win98, I have no idea about Arena. Uncle Google will surely provide you with instructions.

Because DOS loads first with Windows 95/98/ME, then the OS shell. With Windows 95 and up, DOS is a "shell" that loads after Windows. I have a Win98 machine just for running DOS games.

Interesting. I knew Win95 was, but I never really learned anything about the other two.
