Have they closed the Store yet? If not, then you can use the points. I do know that the whole Xbox LIve Store and points thing is going to go away for a different model just can't remember when that is.

From what I can gather, points cards are still accepted.
> Microsoft Points Cards you purchase in retail stores will continue to be redeemable on your console and Xbox.com until further notice. Microsoft has no plans to discontinue acceptance of previously purchased Points cards and codes.
Also, any existing points on your Xbox Live account are converted to your local currency when you download an update (from Xbox Live) that was available as of August 26, 2013.
> Microsoft Points cards and codes that you have purchased and choose to redeem after your account has transitioned will expire one year from the date the Points are redeemed.
I don't think I'm asking the right question. Seems everyone thinks I mean can points still be used to buy anything at all. I have never used pnts and didn't know the store was going to close. I just started playing xbox for the first time. I just made a hotmail acct today. I am asking IS IS POSSIBLE to buy the expansion with points?
The answer to your question is yes. However, if you are wondering whether only a specified number of points can deducted from your pre-paid card towards the purchase of an expansion, then I'm almost completely certain that the answer is no (it doesn't work like a pre-paid debit card). The total amount of points are automatically converted to your local currency, which will show up in your Xbox Live account. See below for instructions to do this via Xbox Live on your console or via Xbox.com on your computer:
If you wish to use your card on the Xbox console, follow these instructions:
1. Sign in to Xbox Live using the account for which you want to use the prepaid code (from your card).
2. Press the Guide button on the controller.
3. Go to Games & Apps and select Redeem Code.
4. Enter the 25-character prepaid code and select Done.
5. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the redemption.
If you wish to use your card online through Xbox.com, follow these instructions:
Note: When you redeem Xbox gift card, the denomination of the card goes directly into your Microsoft account as local currency. So, for example, if you have a $25 card, $25 will go into your Microsoft account when you redeem the card. For information on the closure of the PC marketplace (which occurred on August 22nd) see http://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/pc-games/pc-marketplace-closing. It appears as though this closure only pertains to Games for Windows titles, but the whole thing is a bit confusing to me, since I am not familiar with it and have always purchased content via my Xbox console. As far as I can tell, Skyrim and its expansions are still available to be purchased via Xbox.com though if you redeem your prepaid card, then use the equivalent currency on your Live account to buy Hearthfire and any other expansions.
