The Companions sent me to Hell!

Post » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:09 am

I wanted to clear Dustman's Cairn so my Necromancer could start furnishing it for an evil lair. So , my veil dude runs into Whiterun to get through the little initiation quest. It usually is something simple, like rough up a local or kill the Bandit leader from a nearby holdout.

No problem, right? ...Wrong!

As soon as Farkas shows me the sleeping quarters he goes...

"Oh... by the way. There was a report of Falmer trouble at Sightless Pit. I need you to swing by there and take care of that for me. mmmkkk? ... thanks a bunch. :D You're the best!" :hugs:

 Are you kidding me!!?

My creepy dude is only level 10, for crying out loud! That's a level 18 dungeon. :cold:

Well you know what Vilkas always says: "His brains are not his strong suit."

:D Indeed. Oh well.

I have got to get there first. I have Frostfall installed, as always, and I need to make it through the cold, before he freezes to death. Plus, the added fact of running SkyRe and playing on Master, at that.

Well, he made it. He did die once, because one of the stupid skeletons he created, pushed him down that first drop off. I don't why they have to follow so damn close. They stay back for the most part... but once in a blue moon they want to get pushy.

Still, it consumes a soul gem to create one of those things. I went in with three of them active and enough bones to make two more. I thought that would be enough. Boy was I wrong. They could take on one Falmer fairly easy, but get two or three and a Chaurus Reaper? Luckily the Falmer could be harvested for bones and I leveled Conjuration half way through. That granted me another perk to get more bones form a corpse.

I'm glad I invested 6 levels out of 9 in health, and found an Amulet of Arkay. I was all but getting one shot with those damn arrows. Full health down to 12 in one shot...lol

I barely made it with one soul gem left. In the end I had two skeleton warriors ( on their last leg ) and a weak Bandit I had to reanimate every encounter. That and spamming a Wolf Familiar as this badass evil Necromancer runs, screaming like a frightened little kid.

Great times.

Indeed he is. But followers and summoned minions inadvertently pushing the character off a cliff doesn't exactly fall under "tangible reasonings".

Skjor caught sight of my character eying his woman Aela so he sent me to Bloodlet Throne at lv 7... its a vampire lair. And because I have Dawnguard installed there was gargoyals too.

Lets say my character returned to Whiterun a vampire. Lucky it was only in the very early stages and I was able to remove it with a little Talos worship.

Never took a job from Skjor since.

You don't understand. It isn't a matter of being too hard. JCC is merely pointing out one of those little weirdnesses that happen sometimes with Skyrim's Radiant quest system. It does wildly unpredictable, highly entertaining things sometimes. And he thought we might find it as amusing as he did.

As a matter of fact it was not too hard. He's already made it through.

Precisely. Granted I have only initiated that questline about 4 times. I was just taken back by being thrown to lions, so to speak. The other times, I was sent to beat up the stable boy and some old lady.

See? This is what I mean... I know that place well. It's a bugger with a medium level character let alone a lowly L7.

I could expect something like that to be given as part of the 10 radiantes after the Guild questline, but not the initiation... lol I was wondering how many others have experienced similar situations.

Hmmm. I just looked up Bloodlet Throne and it says that it's a level 6 min. I could have sworn it was up there a lot higher.

I had Farkas send me to Bloodlet Throne at level 4 for my initiation quest. I had Lydia with me. My character luckily survived it but it took over 1 hour because My character needed to run and heal... a lot.

Bloodlet throne use to be a lv 6 or so. But with Dawnguard those vampires got... well vamped up. And Gargoyals? Those are not easy either.

Farkas is just dumb but Skjor... watch out for that guy.

Hah--Skjor's infamous for sending people to ridiculously hard dungeons! I've run 3 warrior characters and he's sent 2 of them to Shimmermist Cave, before either of them hit level 10!

You know you can just turn Farkas' quest down and ask one of the other leaders for work right? Counts just the same to advance.
