S.P.E.C.I.A.L role system right status.

Hello, friends! I would to ask you about S.P.E.C.I.A.L. My friends and I are thinkin' about makin' RPG-game. We all love Fallout series and also its role system - S.P.E.C.I.A.L. So, right to the question - may we use S.P.E.C.I.A.L. in our game or we ought to buy it first? or how it is whatever?

If you're planning to sell this game to other people, then you'll have to get permission from Bethesda to just lift their SPECIAL system and put it into your game. That's not going to happen - I doubt they'd even consider selling you such rights (and I rather doubt you could afford the price tag even if they did).

You could maybe use it as a very general guideline to develop your own stat system, but unless it's significantly different than Bethesda's, you're going to run into copyright problems quickly. And you certainly won't be able to call yours "SPECIAL."

If you're just going to be playing it among friends, it doesn't matter what you call it. Like Gator Country said however, if you're selling it, you're going to run into problems.
