Hi, I'm back and I have commentary. Now the good stuff about Skyrim is pretty evident. Its highly moddable, has a good story, well implemented combat and so forth so do not take this as a "skyrim svcks" thread, because it doesn't svck. Its a great game.
Now for some critique on what I feel needs improvement.
Papyrus.
This...thing...is just bad, it seemingly can't handle many scripts and it can't handle them in a timely fashion.
For example, when comparing Skyrim's papyrus to other games which rely on heavy, heavy scripting (such as Warcraft 3, another highly moddable game that can use some crazy intense C++ {or as they call it Vjass} scripting) it just can't compete, often times leading to delayed script execution, CTDs and so forth.
Now again, this isn't me hating on Beth. I love Beth, I love that they support the modding community and I love that they even let some mods which they could legally shut down slide (don't ask because I won't tell).
They are by far the best Dev out there in terms of supporting their customers which is why I'm thinking maybe, just maybe this will get read by someone who matters.
Now just giving negative feedback is never good so what I suggest for a fix is maybe in a patch later down the road a update to papyrus so it can handle more scripts in a more timely fashion could be implemented.
Thanks for reading and have a good day.
