About Dawnguard [SPOILERS]

Post » Sat Sep 14, 2013 11:11 pm

I'm trying to play through Dawnguard, and the guy tells me "Go to Bloodskal barrow and kill this vampire"

Well I know where Bloodskal barrow is .. I've played Bloodmoon enough ..

So are you telling me that in order to play through Dawnguard..

I'm forced to also play through Dragonborn. AND the main quest of Skyrim ..

Whether I want to or not??!!

Just asking ..

Cause there is only one way into Bloodskal Barrow, and that is in Solstheim. Which means I have to start Dragonborn.. And the Main quest of Skyrim .. otherwise what is the point of starting Dragonborn...

Thanks

Yikes!

Dawnguard DOES interact with Dragonborn (this is normal), but that doesn't sound good.

I suggest reloading from a save and see if you get somewhere else.

If you really don't want to go to Solstheim yet, load a save before you enter FT Dawnguard. That way you're given a different location.

That's what I do. From now on. Save before you enter the castle. If you get a place you don't like, load that save. That's what I've been doing since I'm trying to get the Rune weapons. Also helps to prevent bugs.

You don't need to start the Dragonborn questline just to go to Solstheim. The man at Windhelm docks can take you there any time.

you dont need to be a dragonborn or start the Main skyrim quest to go to solstheim you can go there at level 1 just after exiting helgen just go to windhelm docks and talk to that captain he will take you to solstheim ( you dont need to start dragonborn MQ ) also bloodskaal burrow isnt Dragonborn MQ related dungeon.

Yes, I got this too. It wasn't difficult to go to Soltsheim though. I got a look at things, talked to a few people, went to that Barrow and then sailed back to Windhelm. I like the way you can go back and forth and do things at your own pace. It really adds to the world. There's a quest in Dragonborn where you're sent to get something in Skyrim too. It's a good chance to store some stuff, check on things in Skryim and say hi to your steward(s). :)

Thanks for all the answers. At this point I will probably just remove Dawnguard from my lineup.

I'm really really NOT impressed with the 400 go fetch quests..("Be a dear and travel 3000 miles to get this useless dwemer plan while dying on the way and in the dungeon And no reward for retrieving it either".. ad nauseum.) and Also even though you are supposed to be building some really powerful

vampire hunter group, they are sending me alone , every time to kill Master Vampires.. Why then do I join this group if I'm doing it alone anyway?

So no.. Not impressed at all.. Also the vampires are stupid looking and I've heard they can't fit through doors..
