problems on the way to high hrothgar. HELP!

Post » Mon Sep 16, 2013 1:52 am

hello experienced people,

totally new to skyrim, played 5 times, so i'm just a little level 8 novice (at the moment). i'm searching for some help. i've just left ivarstead, making my way up to high hrothgar - to speak to the greybeards. all was going well, slayed a few sabre cats, wolves etc, until this giant yetti type thing came along & killed me with ease. no matter what i try, death comes quick. (to me)

any suggestions? is this creature too advanced for my level?

any help would be great,

cheers

run straight past it and get to High Hrothgar.
Trolls regenerate health quickly and are weak to fire damage.

Hit it with Fus, then try to run away as fast as possible like you were a Khajiit who saw Moon Sugar in the distance. He will eventually lose interest.

Sneak round him and run like hell. On later visits to the greybeards when you're more powerful take care of the troll properly.

Been a long time since I heard about the Frost Troll of High Hrothgar.

I remember when I was to proud and stubborn to flee, to I fought.

As soon as I saw this thread, I knew it was going to be about the frost troll. He's been the death for many low level characters... But as michael said, trolls are vulnerable to fire, so fire spells, weapons with fire enchantments and the Fire Breath shout are all good against them.

If you run from him, I highly recommend making sure he actually follows you all the way into High Hrotgar. Stop outside the doors until he catches up with you, then just as he is about to hit you, open the door and go inside.

Then run out of reach and enjoy the show. ;)

Yes, me too! I think almost every one of us has died to that thing our first time up that mountain. That is one of my more memorable moments from my first game. :)

Actually, the first time I went up there (I was a low level and hadn't really gotten the hang of combat yet), I remember getting constantly killed by a sabrecat that spawned right after passing the first altar. :blush2: And IIRC, there was an ice wraith somewhere too, which is a bit surprising, since I've only gotten that at much higher levels in later playthroughs. And then the troll... And that bastard Klimmek who said I only had a couple of wolves to worry about! :stare:

Run, knock him down the mountain, hit'n'run, use spells, sneak past him, use a potion of invisibility or any other potion to give you an edge...it's not like the game doesn't give you any choice... :)

Time to saddle up Sir. Save 1000 Gold and get yourself one of those sturdy Nord ponies from 'Honest' Skulvar Sable-Hilt at the Whiterun stables.

When one of those "giant yetti type thing" comes along (Great description btw, Sir)

Step on the Gas.

That's when all those oats and timothy grass kick in. And you are away with the wind Sir!

Marvellous!

Sneak on the left side of the left rock, this let you evade him easy.
