Help Me Get Into Daggerfall

Hi all! A longtime TES fan, starting with Morrowind.

Anyway, I want your help to get into Daggerfall. I really want to play this classic game but am finding it difficult to get into.

For instance, I am having trouble casting spells, do I have to enter the spell menu every time? Recast doesn't seem to work. And is there anyway to disable the need to sipe your mouse to swing? Tbh this are more interface issues I found very irritating about the game.

Otherwise I just need advice on where to go and what to do in this MASSIVE world, it is mind boggling and as I understand randomly generated. Any advice on how to start, good strategies or general recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

This game is harder to get started in.

Yes, the mouse has to be swiped to swing, and each weapon or attack has a preferred swipe direction. Just like Morrowind when you don't check the Always Use Best Attack, (that option does not exist in Daggerfall). As for spells, and anything else for that matter, if your skills are low, you will fail. A lot. What I did to gain some levels is do some gaurd duty quests. Get the quest, wait with your weapon ready until the right time, then attack. Rinse repeat a few times and you will get some levels and then be able to do something. Plus you will have some money. Once your about level 8 to 10, the game gets easier to deal with.

Get a Horse and Cart sooner rather than later, it makes travel easier and you can carry more loot.
