Where is the Corvega Factory IRL?

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 9:22 pm

So obviously Bethesda used a lot of artistic license with their version of Washington DC, but I was wondering if anyone familiar with the region might be able to tell me the name of the town that the Corvega Factory would be closest to, if it existed in our world?

If you have the map from the game, you can actually narrow down a location on the real life map, ive been going through maps of the region and fallouts map certainly is wayyyyyy out, its so funny even looking at the pentagon and then seeing where arlington cemetery is, and arlington house certainly doesnt look like the crappy generic wooden house in the game.

I would suspect Arlington house got blasted to bits during the Nuclear Attacks.

The Corvega is a car model manufactured by Chryslus Motors. It's obvious that Chryslus is a reference to Chrysler, and therefore the factory would be in Detroit, or atleast the headquarters. Corvega though, seems to be a play of a bunch of Chevrolet (General Motors) cars like Vega and Corvette or Corvair. Still, General Motors has their headquarter in Detroit aswell, so.... Detroit.

Actually guys, I did a bit of sleuthing on my own, and judging from its postition to the Capital Beltway and the nearby town of Wheaton, I've concluded that it's http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=beltsville&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Beltsville,+MD,+USA&gl=au&ei=t9S5Te-jAo_CvQPh8rS-Cw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCkQ8gEwAA. :)
Which means that Canterbury Commons, which is just a little further north, could be either the town of Laurel or Maryland City.

But yeah. New Vegas seems to be a bit more accurate in regards to where places are. Fallout 3 on the other hand? Nearly impossible to figure out!

So Toronto is in America and Detroit is walking distance from DC.... How fluid geography is in 2011....

He's talking about where the relative location of the Corvega Factory building in Fallout 3 is in real life (i.e. where in the DC area it is). Not where the company is/was based in the Fallout universe. :D

Well.. I was never that much of exploring, so I didn't know there was a car factory in Fallout 3.
