Hello, I recently started playing and aquired Boone. He's quite effective, but I want to be able to poke around Legion stuff without every encounter being hostile. I've read about Raul without spoilering myself to much, and he sounds amazing, being the only abhuman available (i'm partial to Marcus, Fawkes, and Lenny) and am excited that Danny Trejo voices him. I've begun the trek to Black Mountain (I had to circumnavigate some death claws after dying 5 times ) and have a some rad away, rad x, as well as Boone and ED-E to hopefully be able to rescue him.

My question is what are some good weapons for him? Is his default weapon any good? I have a couple of some of the cheaper GRA weapons I could give to him, like the plasma pistol from Goodsprings.

Lever-action rifles and revolvers.

Without going into spoilers too much, there's a way to unlock him getting a boost to his ability to use those. His default weapon is a .44 magnum so it already qualifies, but if you're wanting to upgrade it, then just make sure the upgrade is a lever-action rifle or a revolver.

I don't see the need to upgrade him myself, he does well enough with his .44.
