Does Fallout: NV Ultimate give unfair advantages?

Post » Tue Sep 24, 2013 12:28 am

Hi there.

I bought the PC New Vegas "Ultimate" version from steam store, installed it and started playing...

At the beginning of the game it adds any DLCs and items that the game includes, and it says that some items are added to your inventory. I am an old TES/Fallout player, and I know that at the beginning of the Bethesda games the player starts off as a nobody with no items in his inventory. I want to know does this ruin the experience of FNV or make it easier in any way? I'm very sensitive about having the truly balanced experience of the game, not something that has become easier with money! :D

So, are the advantages of the Ultimate version important? Do they ruin the experience?

Thanks in advance. :)

They do give you a noticeable advantage. You'll have more weapon options and back-up armors early on. If you're worried about it making the beginning too easy, then leave the items in a container in Doc Mitchell's house and go on without them. I believe the Courier only starts off with the Vault 21 jumpsuit and the 9mm pistol without the DLC.

I will second leaving the items in Dox Mitchell's house, and eventually picking them up later if you want the balanced gameplay. Or you could download a mod that makes the game harder and keep going with the items. :)

The weapon(s) depend on your tagged skills.

But yes, it's ridiculous.

It's the Courier's Stash that is giving you those items. You can just uncheck it in the launcher and not have the items at the beginning of the game.
