nVidia Graphical Issues

Post » Tue Sep 24, 2013 3:27 am

I have recently noticed that my computer was using the wrong graphics card the whole time I was playing Skyrim, so I switched from it's integrated Intel to my nVidia GeForce GTX 660M and I have an issue:

The transparent textures had a cloudy grey/black around them and some of the other "shadows" (not the ones made by objects, but those that are just shading the object itself), and they "flickered" from far away. There is nothing missing like some videos I have found. It also worked (and still works) fine on the integrated Intel card. On the nVidia, it also has a black stripe on the right side of the screen when viewing a light surface like snow.

Is there any fix for this, or is it a problem with the graphics card? Do I need a new nVidia graphics card?

have you the latest nvidia drivers for your laptop ????

have you the unofficial patch installed too ???

try to make your graphic settings default from your nvidia control panel and try again.

I did install the newest drivers.

No, I do not have the unofficial patch. Would that help?

I have optimized the settings from nVidia Experience, yes.

install the unofficial patch, and try with default settings without Nvidia Experience !!!

after that, verify your game cash files: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

Ok, I installed all the unofficial patches, deleted my .ini files to reset them, and verified the cache files, all to no avail... It still isn't working right...

Here is a picture: http://i.imgur.com/DmJ9vRW.jpg

See the odd black bar at the side of the screen? See the black blobs around the grass? It is much worse in-game as they also flicker slightly. I also noticed that there is a weird shadow under my bow when it is out.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy...

Solved! It was Ambient Occlusion. Turned it off and it worked like a charm!

Yeah, that's why i tell n you load the default settings !!! (Because i don't know what changes do you have made on your control panel )

(Actually ambient occlusion should work properly with skyrim, so i don't know why that happens with your card)
