I am trying to do the Companions quest line, but when I go to train with Vilkas, he just says, "what do you think this is? We don't fight with magic around here, new blood.". He says it over and over again while continually drawing and sheathing his sword. I have no magic equipped, only a sword and shield. I don't even have any enchanted items.

Is there something I can do in the console or something? This svcks.

Don't listen to him and keep fighting. The quest will be completed when you hit him few times. (it worked on others...)

I presume you have no mods installed....(otherwise it's more complicated)

I hit him about a thousand times. I have been playing Skyrim since launch, I know when something is glitched.

Anyway, it turned out to be that if I had the Dragonsting sword from Immersive Weapons equipped, it would cause this glitch. As soon as I unequipped it and hit him with something else it was fine.

propably it's an enhance weapon, therefore it's not working...(actually you mean some kind of deadric sword)
