Ok, my main character is level 114 and I have Serana as my follower, which has been a lot of fun. Earlier though, when I was going through her UESP page, I discovered that at level 50, she is meant to start using Ice Storm instead of Ice Spike, the problem is I was level 50.. 64 levels ago...

She is using the other spells listed such as Chain Lightning, but not Ice Storm, not even once has she used it. I aggro'ed the entire occupants of Castle Volkihar to see if I could force it out of her but that didn't work, I left her at the castle and waited several days to see if she would reset but she didn't, Wabbajack won't work on her since she's essential, so I'm all out of ideas.

If I was on PC I could fix her but I don't have that option, looking at her UESP talk page I know I am not the first to have this problen but it isn't listed under bugs. I know for fact she isn't using Icy Spear like someone on the talk page suggested because her spikes are half the size.

Hopefully someone here will have ideas.

It could just be a starting point glitch. Like when you first got her, she didn't have it for whatever reason. This can happen and if you're close enough to the save you can load back but that won't work here considering that you're 64 levels to late... My only idea would be to give her a staff of Ice Storm.

She won't use it on enemies that are immune to frost, and also make sure she has sat for 24 in-game hours without being in combat.
