A lore friendly name for my Altmer character.

Post » Thu Sep 26, 2013 5:35 am

I was happy with my Altmer's name, Kardryl, until I typed his name on Google out of curiosity and found out that's the name of a freaking syrup.

So I'm pretty much going to restart him. Fortunately he is only level 15 so it's not a big loss.

I checked the UESP but it doesn't really help you come up with anything. There's a list of prefixes and sufixes but it's very limited since it's based on Arena and Daggerfall alone.

Do what I always do.

Google "Altmer Names TES" and look on the UESP :)

A syrup? I looked on google and it looks like something medicinal or something. 37 hits. That's hardly anything. Who's heard of Kardryl before?

Nobody, that's who.

I wouldn't sweat it man. :D Kardryl sounds altmerish to me. I bet if you typed alot of npcs names into google you'd find alot of them come up as all kinds of crazy things.

 I would love that.

I named my two male Altmer Ciralind and Faelian. You could try something like that? Use one of those?

Yop. You'd be amazed how many made up names are actual things in real llife. It seems like a petty thing to restart a game over.

Course, I can't say I'm one to talk. And most of the names I pick at random end up being very fitting.

Did you notice on the Altmer name page that Gandalf was a name from Daggerfall? It's actually fitting as iirc it means grand elf which is another way of saying high elf ;)

No, you may have a point there.

You don't have to restart. If you're on a PC, anyway.

1. Open Command Console (` or ~)

2. Type "TGM" (this will keep your stats from getting redistributed)

3. Type "showracemenu"

4. Hit R and choose a new name.

You can use this generator to create names for your Elder Scrolls characters : http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=modding_data/ngen

I always base them on something else, and add in the appropriate Altmer element in the end. I have created 3 male Altmer characters in the series and their names are:

Zulmar (Zuma, name of a game), Valeno (Valentino, a brand), Ostathar (Ostagar, a place in Dragon Age)
