Same Old World, but a Strange New Problem

I haven't been able to play Oblivion in a while--a few months. Now, today, I pick it back up, and I've got a problem.



I'm closing a gate outside of Skingrad. I grab the sigil stone, the effect starts to close the gate, but I notice it takes longer than normal. In fact, the entire effect plays out, and the bright light dissapates, taking the scene back to normal, before the loading screen comes up to take me back to Cyrodiil as the gate closes.

Here's where the problem occurs. The game locks up during loading.



As I said, I haven't played in a while. But, I also haven't made any changes to the game--no new mods or setting changes. So, the game should play just as it did two months ago (when I could close gates fine).

I wonder what's happening?

I tried re-saving the game, and it still locked up. I used the hard save rather than the quick save and still got a lock up.

When I get a lock up, I have to CTRL-ALT-DELETE to close the game. I've tried letting it sit for a while to see if it will eventually finish load, but, nope, it doesn't work.

Thoughts?

Your using the Unofficial Oblivion Patch?
This sounds like a similar issue I faced when beta testing that Kivan corrected in version 3.01

That game has soul, it doesn't like to be banned idle on the harddrive for several months. :grad:

Delte, I sure wish I could help you because you have helped me a great deal with your immersive mods list. Yes do a PYLO maybe something got foul.

Also: I went back a few levels and found a save right before closing another gate. I loaded that one and tried to close that gate. Viola, it worked perfectly.

Something's gotten cross about closing this particular gate. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to go back two hours (my last save before my current one) and start this whole gate over again (it's one of the big ones).

Try using Wrye Bash on the save to repair Abomb and remove bloat.

There is no miracle, certainly a mod (or mods conflict) is the cause of your problem.
Try to decactivate your mods one by one, until you find the culprit.

I'm thinking the same thing. Strange that it just started up, though. I haven't had time to play around with it, until just now. I tried leaving the cell and doing other things in the plane of Obivion, but when I got back, it did the same thing.

I guess I'm going back two hours and trying things like I have never played it before.

Hey Delte, Its definitely not KRIS or any of the Dragon Captions mods.

You run alot of mods...MMM and OOO are huge well made mods and they are well tested but they are so epic there may be an unseen conflicts. I will recommend starting with them first then moving to smaller plugins. Also... your using KRIS and DC mods but you dont have DCRP or CURP...

Also, DC Sutch Reborn might be an issue if it's not been cleaned yet.

If the UOP is suspected, what version of that are you running now?

hehe KRIS is Kvatch Rising. I'm in Dragon Captions, Sutch's developers, its fine you should have no problems, if you are DL latest version.
