XBOX 360: Retail Disk or Download Card

Post » Fri Sep 27, 2013 11:55 pm

I'm kind of tempted by the idea of having one less disk to juggle (and the price), but are there any hidden snags with the digital version of Skyrim on the 360?

For example, there used to be that streaming issue where certain textures would be low quality if you ran the game off the HDD, and you had to use the disk as a fix. Obviously if someone had the digital version they would have been screwed. I'm not sure if that particular issue ever got fixed (I see some people still complaining of it even though it's 'fixed' according to a patch changelog), but that's the kind of thing I'm concerned about.

Do you have to be permanently connected to the internet to play the game?

Any issues like that?

I had the disc and then I purchased a new X-Box. The new box came with a code for the digital download. I grabbed the download and exchanged the disc. I honestly feel like the download lags and I've had freezing issues with it that I didn't have while using the disc. This could be update related, but I'm not sure.

I've considered purchasing the disc again because of it. I also had to re-download the game once and that helped, but I still get the lag.
