I mysteriously have dawnguard. Explanation?

Post » Sun Sep 29, 2013 9:12 pm

So i booted up skyrim today to have a look at the "2k texture pack" i installed (the one by nebula on nexus mods), first thing i did was fast travel to Whiterun, and i start hearing guards talking about vampires and dawnguard, then someone comes up to me with a quest. Now i haven't bought or downloaded anything to do with Dawnguard yet i seem to have it.

Under data when launching skyrim, "Dawnguard.esm", or whatever the extension is, is there and when i check the data folder within steamapps i do indeed have 2 dawnguard files (.esm .bsa), over a gig combined.

I have no idea why i have these files, i didn't download them or buy it. I installed the textures on the 21st of this month, and the dawnguard files have a creation date of the 24th. I checked my internet browsing history for the time when these files were supposedly created and i was browsing Amazon for Formula 1 DVDs.

I have no clue how i've ended up with dawngaurd, can anyone shed some light on this situation?

I play on Xbox 360 so don't know much about what is happening but seems like you are not the only person. Had a quick look at the topic seems like an update is giving players Dawnguard or something.

It has happened to a few people.
Bethesda has been informed, but there's no official word yet on why Steam is doing it.

Since we already have a thread on the subject, use the link provided to continue the discussion.
