Poisoning Followers to make them better

Post » Tue Oct 01, 2013 4:15 am

If I was to use alchemy to make a mild poison but with fortify one-hand and fortify/restore health mixed in. And used this poison to strike my follower before a battle, would they benefit from the good effects or would they be effected by the bad poison only?

Just wondering

This build uses it as a focus in the "aspect of the wolf":

Does fortifying combat and magic skills work this way, considering it doesn't work on follower enchantments?

Why not use a fortify potion? Why the negative effect?

Followers wont use fortify potions and potions can't be added to weapons. Poisons can be added to weapons so by making a poison that also has a positive effect, you can hit a follower and posion him/her while also giving them positive effects.

and you can craft the poison so the beneficial effects far outweigh the negatives.

anyone know if the fortify combat/magic skills can work using this method?

I would test it for you but I'm moving house. If I have enough time I'll test it.

They don't. NPCs don't have the PerkSkillBoosts and AlchemySkillBoosts perks the player has, which control all skill mod effects.

Fortify attribute would work, though.

All effects in Skyrim are applied the same. No matter the form it comes in. Be that magic, enchantment or potion.

Followers only benefit from...

  • Fort Health
  • Health Regen ( while out of combat )
  • Fort Heavy Armor
  • Fort Light Armor
  • Fort Magicka
  • Magicka Regen
  • Fort Stamina
  • Stamina Regen
  • Fort Unarmed Damage
  • Muffle
  • Resist Fire
  • Resist Frost
  • Resist Magic
  • Resist Poison
  • Resist Shock

thats a shame i was hoping i could fortify one/two hand potions to make my melee followers more effective, but i suppose fortify health and armour would be just as useful
