Thinking of a guard roleplay

Post » Wed Oct 02, 2013 1:42 am

I have only just realized Dawnguard makes playing as a guard so much better so after finishing with my current Altmer I'll make a Nord female Whiterun Guard.

She will stand at the gate (inside the city) for 3 minutes (I think that is 1 ingame hour) at 6pm-7pm.
She will then walk past the smelter, then behind Warmaidens, then behind the old creepy woman's house, then behind Ysolda's house, then behind the Inn, then through the market and back to the gate. (until 9pm)
Back to gate guard duty until 10pm
outside the city she will be a gate guard until 11pm
she will guard the stables until 12am and then go to bed (probably in the inn)
7am she will start doing bounty hunting jobs and completing them until 12pm
she will have a 1 hour break and then do more bounty hunting until 5pm.
5pm-6pm she will have another break and then back to guard duty.

I will repeat until bored.

Sounds like it could get boring fast.

Oh yeah... weird I always thought I wanted to be a guard in game and was annoyed you couldn't do it, but now with the random vampire attacks (and by the way has anyone else noticed "thief attacks", I don't know if they come from dawnguard but I've only noticed them recently in falkreath and riverwood - and they're very similar to vampire attacks) you could totally pretend to be a guard. Guard armour is my armour of choice anyway.

I think it would get boring doing as much as op suggests, but you could just work "a shift" here and there and imagine it's a part time casual job... that doesn't pay.

First thing you need to do, and it may be quite challenging, is to take an arrow to the knee.

I suppose doing it in small doses in a less regimented fashion could be fun.

I've tried it, and with one exception it gets boring after about 2 hours, with that exception being the Redoran Guard on Solstheim. Firstly in order to get the guard outfit (since I believe you said you play on console) your loyal faithful guard is going to have to ironically steal from Dragonsreach in the Jarl's quarters.

With the Redoran Guard you can get the full set and weapons within 2 minutes of walking on Solstheim and there are 2 huge guard related quests. In addition there are always ash spawn attacks and bandits/reavers right outside the city wall.

However, as a Whiterun guard you'll probably want to do the bounty quests as well as help out with local problems. One Handed, Shield, Light Armor of course.

Think someone made a build, becoming the Thane of every Hold and using associated armour whilst dispensing some fierce Guard justice.

Something like that would actually make the guards in Skyrim smarter. I also forgot to mention, you have to express your fascination with *curved swords* to random travelers and follow up by propositioning them to *enchant* yours.

It gets really boring really fast if you do it nonstop

Just because nothing really attacks anything inside the city.

If you were on PC, you could "stage" bandit/vampire/etc. attacks by spawning them with console commands. But that's out of the question so, meh. I doubt you'll get much mileage.

Is there a mod that allows your character to use guard lines? So you can harass other npcs with nonsense like arrow to knee all the time, it might be fun.

I guess you could say those stupid things to your screen whenever an NPC greets you on your "guard duty". I say all sorts of stupid things while playing these games, not sure if this is a common habit.
