I usually post technical stuff like this in the CS forum. But it annoys me how it's the CS subforum rather than "Technical Modding Help" or something. So I've put this here.
Anyway, I'm having trouble with ambient occlusion on my rocks. It's making them bright enough to make your eyes bleed. They look fine in nifskope, but when I load them up in the CS or in game, they look like https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42876609/EyeBleed.JPG. Note that they ARE supposed to be white, just not that bright. They look fine if I remove the ambient occlusion map. I've tried making the ao map black and that didn't help. I've matched them exactly to Taddeus rocks (as far as I can tell) since they're based on his meshes. The main difference is that I don't have a normal map. I don't know if the bottom line is that the game freaks out if you try to apply ao maps to white textures like this?
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42876609/EyeBleed.rar, if someone can figure out what the heck is making the rocks so bright, I'd be grateful. This has been turning me off from working on Lyithdonea for a while now.
