You know what's boring about Skyrim? It's got no style. Almost none. Its armor is, incorrect I might add, generic medievalish looking metal and chain and leather and some stuff kept over from Morrowind, a game oozing style. Much of the architecture styling is nonexistent, the least imaginative copying of nordic architecture ever. For a game filled with magic and dragons, why on would every village in existence be a squalid little collection of thatch huts with stone walls? How boring can you get, no question mark because it's rhetorical.
Here's an example of style: http://static2.nexusmods.com/110/mods/110/images/19733-1-1341168132.jpg
Now THAT is style. That looks interesting. Or these swords: http://static2.nexusmods.com/110/mods/110/images/3871-1-1324093818.jpg
Those are swords you might actually want. Those are swords worth going after, worth holding up and saying "Look what I have!" What happened to the concept artists Bethesda used to have? The ones that worked on Morrowind, the ones that didn't just copy actual trees, because they were going to make trees that looked more interesting than any real life trees did. That went through each culture of a land and gave them a unique architectural style, that dreamed up imaginative new creatures and not once stooped to having giant spiders in a game.
Skyrim is, in comparison, a bland and unimaginative trope filled blur of genericism. Lacking imagination, lacking style.
