Problems with installation

Post » Sun Oct 06, 2013 11:06 am

Hello, i have a strange issue with my copy of Skyrim, i mean that when i install it (or reinstall to refresh game data) the installation size is radom, sometimes it only install 2GB, sometimes 3.5 and after many times it finally install all content (4.6 GB) . Its really annoying because i like to refresh game data from time to time to play more smoothly, and with this bug the reinstall process can take me a couple of hours of installing and deistalling.

Oh and yes i try to play with only 2.5 GB install, but game is just horrible, no textures at all, constant lag and freezes.

I have 200GB free space on hard drive and i only install Skyrim, so a to low space on my HDD is not a problem.

Anyone have this sort of issue? Any ideas how to fix this?

PS.Sorry for my english, im from Poland and i still learning this language.

I have a question...how you play it with only 2.5 GB installed ???

have you tried to delete the whole game data and re-install it from scratch from disk again ???

(it should install about 3+ giga the first time) and after playing for a couple of minutes it must be over 4+ giga...

That's another possibility, and i would ask the OP if he has problems with other games too. (i mean with the installation part).

If yes, then the HDD could be problematic, if no maybe he should try another disk or even he should do a rebuild database or something like this. :lightbulb:

Other games install just fine, only Skyrim have problems, and i can't play with 2.5 GB game data, game starts but it runs horribly so i have to deinstall and install again (and hope next time it will be 4.6 GB)

My HDD works great, i rebuild data base regullary, and yes i install Skyrim game data from scratch (once i have even formatted my HDD and then install Skyrim, still 2.5 or 3.5 GB)

Today i got lucky and after 4 tries game data installed properly (4.6 GB) but still this issue really frustrates me.

I have read on few other forums that some people have the same problem with installation (on brand new HDD and game disc) so i am not alone with this.

The beginning install, the one with the green progress bar doesn't install the entire 4.6 file. The game installs the rest while you're on the cart ride and on the character creation in the background while your busy with all that. If you install and then immediately jump into a save file the game will start installing the rest and you will notice a performance drop while the game is doing its thing on the background. You might think you need to restart and then you see the 2.5 gb installed because you interrupted the background install.

A word of advice: Just install it the one time and don't touch it again. You could reinstall the thing weekly if you like but it won't make it run any better. It will run exactly the same if you do it or if you don't.
