So in preparation for the new consoles and Elder Scrolls Online, I decided that I would make one last Skyrim character. I have made over a dozen since release, and I wanted this experience to be different. I plan to do most if not all of the games content for this character. I turned the difficulty up to Legendary and made a bee-line straight for Solstheim. The character is a Dark Elf, originally from Blacklight, and his capture by the Imperials was a case of "wrong place, wrong time". He went to Solstheim in a desperate attempt to be with his own people again, and after getting to Raven Rock he decided to stay and help out. I have never played the Dragonborn dlc or had a character play on a difficulty above expert, and HOLY CRAP am I enjoying the challenge! Ive been on Solstheim for about 6 hours and am nearly done with the quest involving Fort Frostmoth. Literally, thats about it, because of how long it takes me to kill stuff and I often find myself retreating to the safety of the Bulwark.
One thing I am enjoying about this play through is that because of 1) Not starting the Skyrim main quest and 2) The difficulty, I dont feel like a demi god, I feel like the green inexperienced warrior that I am. I love it, It reminds me of how difficult Morrowind was the first time I played it back in 2002. I don't hate the Skyrim main story, being the Dragonborn is lots of fun. I just didn't like how quickly it was thrust upon you. I felt like I didn't earn it at all. So because of that Im going to save the Skyrim main quest and the Dragonborn main quest for last with this character, after he has accomplished a lot on his own.
Sorry this post is going on and on, I just felt like sharing my excitement for this run through!
