OMM Noob question

Post » Wed Oct 09, 2013 2:09 am

I have been installing Skyrim mods using the Nexus and NMM. I want to mod Oblivion using the OMM. I know some Oblivion mods are OMODS and some are just files. This video tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OFVAImglu4 shows creating a OMOD from basically just a random mod.

1. Can you create a OMOD from basically any Oblivion mod on the nexus?

2. Another tutorial says that if you are installing a texture mod U have to go to utilities to archive invalidation, check off the 9 boxes and update now

Do you have to do this for all mods or just texture mods?

Thank you for your time!

1. In theory yes. However you have to set the archive up to OMOD format.

2. Just for textures and meshes replacers though I could be wrong. Someone please correct me. :D

But seriously unless you're only going to do a light modding, why not move on to Wrye Bash? OBMM in general is alright but once your mod count goes up, you'll notice issues. This is from someone who did use OBMM until few years ago.

I thought I was setting it up to OMOD format? I thought you take there loose zipped files and then create OMODS using the OMM create a OMOD option?

It's been awhile since I used OBMM, so I could be wrong. IIRC you need to create a folder, create a data folder and then unzip the content from the archive into the data folder you created. Then you can create OMOD out of it.

I'm an OBMM user, but it's been a loooooong time ago that I set it up, like from 2008! I think during the installation process, the archive invalidation is set up for you. I don't honestly remember though.
