Just Asking

Post » Wed Oct 09, 2013 6:18 am

This post is directed to those responsible for the oversight of the next Fallout simulation. I'm 56; one of my hobbies has been computer and board gaming for decades now. I like to think that I understand that many game design organizations wish to speak about their projects as little as possible. No point giving competitors ideas that they otherwise might not have. That's certainly understandable. But you know, there's something really jacked here. It's been almost five years years now since Fallout 3 was published, and almost three since New Vegas was released- and I haven't seen anything about the next game; only vague unofficial hints here and there. In fact, I haven't seen anything solid that indicates that the next Fallout is even actually being produced. As I said, I understand the need for secrecy- but five years? Or even three? So I'm asking the responsible person(s) at Bethesda for some information as to the status of the next game in the Fallout series. That it's a work in progress with a ballpark release date (as in "x" number of years away from publication) would be great. Even if it's years away, I can live with that (not that I have a choice, mind you). There are plenty of things to do in this wide world.

Anyway, I'd appreciate your consideration regarding this. Many thanks in advance- for what you may be working on, and for the jewels that are FO3 and FNV.

Well New Vegas was not a Bethesda product; so it sort of doesn't count with respect to their scheduling.

**I would not be surprised if they let out a teaser at the end of October, and another next June... but I have no connection to the company and no inside knowledge of it... Very few here do.
(So that is purely a guess).

Remember that their studio had been working on Skyrim and expansion DLC for a good bit of that five year interim.

Fallout 4 speculation thread ==>http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1474755-fallout-4-speculation-suggestions-and-ideas-148/

New Vegas wasn't Bethesda's work as Gizmo said, but it might be were we should start our count for Fallout 4, not from when Fallout 3 was released.

Morrowind was released in May 2002

Oblivion was released March 2006

Fallout 3 was released October 2008

Skyrim was released November 2011

All games were announced about a year before their release (+- a few months). So if history is any indication, they will announce their next game within the next 6 months, slated for a late 2014, or early 2015 release.

Hold your horses, they will announce their next game when they announce it.

I mentioned Fallout New Vegas because I assume Bethesda reached an agreement with Obsidian regarding production and release- and thus Bethesda officials could at least say that they have seen to it the the community was provided with additional FO entertainment. While I can apppreciate their effort spent on Skyrim, the fact remains that years have elapsed with no information whatsoever on the next Fallout product. This is why I'm just asking for some basic information.

My guess is that New Vegas was designed to fill the game between Fallout games. So when people say "It's been five years since the last Fallout" that isn't true. Five years since the last Bethesda Fallout but not the last Fallout.

October 19, 2010 was New Vegas. So it will soon be three years since the last Fallout. Bethesda was working on Skyrim during that time. By now though they might have been working on Fallout 4 for well over a year.

It has been no longer then their historical release schedual. Fallout NV was on a completely different production schedual unrelated to BethGS's, so it can not be used in a comparison of information release intervals.

Its been years since anything Fallout related, but you must also consider that Skyrim was in production after Fallout 3, so obviously there would be no news of another Fallout game from BethGS.
