American Conference II: Paradigm Consortium

What was formerly one of the greatest cities of the pre-war United States, New York, has now been taken and transformed into the corporate stronghold of the Paradigm Consortium: that shadowy pre-war corporate entity whose detailed origins and ambitions are hidden to all but a select few. Paradigm City, as New York is now know, is incredibly large and contains almost the entirety of the Consortium’s population, aside from the hundred thousand or so which live in the outer wasteland region. The city glows with light given off by the variety of futuristic buildings contained within it and is surrounded by a massive concentric ring of advanced protective pre-fabricated walls supplemented with an advanced photonic resonance barrier along the entirety of its perimeter. Likewise its harbor is heavily fortified with large naval guns and the island of Manhattan is similarly reinforced with its own set of walls.

Perhaps most strikingly, the city’s skyline is dotted in places with the outlines of massive domes built by Paradigm in the earlier years immediately following the war to shelter its above-ground population from any atmospheric radiation. Now though their function largely serves to keep the riffraff from the richest of the populace who live in these domes and also serve as a potent reminder of the engineering power of the Consortium. The most impressive building of the city however, remains what was once the Empire State building located on the island of Manhattan, and it is here where the convention will be held: on one of the top floors of this massive skyscraqer.

Delegates arriving at Paradigm can arrive in a variety of ways: either by sea through the main port, by land, or by air to what was once JFK International Airport. Those arriving by land will be stopped at one of several large black gates that mark the entrance to the city and which are affixed with Paradigm’s golden corporate symbol. Armored PSF troopers can be seeing patrolling the walls, but the delegates will be approached by smartly dressed Paradigm employee’s in suits which will ask for identification and, after being presented with it, will allow the delegates to pass through the city with an escort in tow.

Those arriving by air or sea will similar be briefly detained by the same sort of suited employees and will then be ushered into black limousine vehicles which will take them to the Paradigm Headquarters (the Empire State Building). By special request, the Midwestern Brotherhood will be allowed to dock their airships on the Empire State Buildings spire if they so choose. Regardless of how they arrive however, all delegates must disarm completely before being allowed into the city.

Once arriving at Paradigm Headquarters, delegates will be courteously shown into the lobby, which contains a large reception desk and behind it on the wall is a massive golden http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/366/d/3/paradigm_corp_by_armorclad-d5pz4mz.png, around which is emblazed the official “public” company motto “Power Through Acumen.”

Quickly, delegates will then enter elevators to their left which will take them to one of the top floors of the building, after which they will enter a spacious and comfortably furnished conference room with a massive semi-circular table at its center. Great bay windows located in the back are opened to Paradigm cities night sky which affords a beautiful vista for the discussions to take place in front of. White-uniformed waiters are on hand to take any sort of order for food or drink that might be desired.

At the forefront of the table, four individuals are dressed in black suits with small Paradigm symbols pinned to their suit-jackets. One is a much older and stern looking gentleman who sits in the most prominent position on the table, another is a young woman, and the other two are more recognizable to those who attended the first convention (Waterford and Banner).
