Darker but not THAT dark dungeons?

Hi all

I've tried "darker dungeons" and "let there be darkness" mods to make the dungeons a bit more atmospherically conducive to sneaky types, however there's one major issue that I don't like:

I can't see anything!!! (cue laughter)

But there's a point here - to be able to see into any of the areas that are now utterly pitch black (no graphics of ANY kind visible not even standing next to things) I need to either; use a torch or a light spell or nighteye, which brings me to my point:

Torch - I'm trying to sneak up on you to backstab / go past / steal and I'm self illuminating... that makes sense doesn't it?

Light spell - see above

Night eye spell - makes everything look the same colour and luminosity (vanilla or modded) - even at just lvl 1; utterly destroying the ability to even tell where the shadows are.

SO..... is there anything that's darker than vanilla which is too light, and the pitch blackness of the above mods?

Apparently "let there be darkness" mod adjusts the fog colour rather than removing and changing light sources like "darker dungeons" does. Could I mod the fog to be a bit lighter so I can still see a bit into the corners of a room (as in reality you would be able to with a lightsource even a fair ways off), even if it's just enough to see basic shapes and outlines? (like when you used set up your gamma for some games).

If I can't frankly I'd rather put up with vanilla than use torches / lightspells; especially night eye which is just plain gross - even morrowind did it better.

I partially agree with your point of view;but I aimed to find something different: finding a mod that , not only made caves\interior darker, but that would also make you able to see better just by sitting there (much like the reality where your eyes adapt to the darkness)

Anyway, I feel like you should post your request into the "mod detectives" thread.

I'm fairly sure I remember that there was a morrowind sneak mod that did just that, it increased the night eye constant effect (which was basically the same as turning up the brightness without a significant colour change) over a period of time.

I really don't like the "zero shadows and it's all blue btw" of the night eye spell in oblivion.

I've DL the construction set (as I dabbled with some things in morrowind) in a vague attempt to see if I can track down what was changed in the fog values mentioned in the OP - if anyone KNOWS please point me where.

If a moderator wants to move this to that thread (which I didnt know existed) then be my guest
