Anything special planned for the 2yr anniversary?

Post » Tue Oct 15, 2013 4:36 am

I was wondering if Beth had anything planned for Skyrim's 2nd anniversary? Steam sales? Small celebration DLC? Tinkertape parade in the streets of London and New York City?

Nah, they're all busy with FO4. Expect a trailer next year!

nothing.

Beth is not known for milking money in that manner, unlike a few other RPG devs who shall remain nameless as to prevent arguments...

I would be happy with a small patch just to fix that damn lip-sync bug.

Nope, Skyrim is done. Fallout 4, Elder Scrolls 6, new IP, or whatever 'exciting new adventure' you can imagine is being worked on and will likely see an announcement sometime next year.

Finger's crossed for Fallout 4 and hopefully Bethesda hired some writers from Obsidian :D

oh of course the game is done, but it is very common for games that are in the support phase to receive anniversary content even if it is very small. Especially a game of skyrim's calibre and popularity.

Well, they are missing an opportunity to cash in on 11-12-13. But then it wouldn't reflect the kind of people they are.

Bethesda released Skyrim on 11-11-11. Common number 11.

( The Elder Scrolls V converted to Roman numerals ) 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 50 + 500 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 100 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 5 + ( Common number ) 11 = 666

I really doubt it, maybe a sale or something but I doubt it... unless that's when they announce whatever the next game is that they plan on releasing.

I doubt it they said they have moved on to their next adventure, which is probably Fallout 4.

They do have the ES anthology its the five core games all in a package.

They did nothing for Arena's or Daggerfalls's or Morrowind's or Oblivion's second anniversaries, so I wouldn't expect them to do anything for Skyrim's second anniversary either.

Highly unlikely. It's like people expect Bethesda to release something new on November 11 every year. The game is done - not 'done until we want to milk more money'. Besides, a second anniversary isn't all that special, especially considering they didn't do anything for the first anniversary.

It could happen, of course, but I doubt it. Perhaps there'll be a post on Bethblog.

It's not a wedding anniversary. The tittle of the OP it's like you're waiting for Beth to take you to dinner or something every November 11th.

Why would you want a game with 90% dialogue, 5% exploration and 5% the rest of the stuff.

Uh, why would rendering NPCs smarter, logical, and more attractive (all in terms of dialogue) be bad for all the other aspects? If you're a pro, you can do it. If you can't code, let it do it to someone else.

Besides dialogue is a very very important part of Fallout. Exploration is less important, Fallout is not and definitely should not be "post-apocalyptic TES".

I like games wih a lot of dialogue but when there is too much dialogue it just gets boring. Fallout NV just feels like an interactive movie.

I'm not saying it is a bad thing.

This. Fallout has a huge emphasis on dialogue and story. TES has a huge emphasis on exploration. Neither series' most recent instalment does particularly well with the other aspect, at least in my opinion.
