Am I just going to quit this game now?

Post » Sat Oct 19, 2013 3:22 am

Seriously, I just made probably the best character I've ever made in any of my TES adventures. Then, I hit lv.20 and all of a sudden I am a scrub. Dragon eats me with FULL HEALTH BAR. Bandit leader kills me in one single hit. Regarding my prior post about Kharjo (originally labeled J'Zargo) that bandit camp must not have been that hard, it was just me reaching lv.20 that screwed my entire game up.

I can't do anything without dying in 1-2 hits..... :wallbash:

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but it really helps to improve your weapons and armor with Smithing.

I found the game got easier as I progressed, because my gear and skills kept getting better.
What difficulty are you on? You can always lower the difficulty. It's not "cheating" if it makes the game enjoyable again :)

Depends on what skills you are upgrading really, focus on the combat ones. if you keep leveling up but use most of the perks for non combat skill trees, you'll get weak and enemies will get stronger.

Lowering the difficulty is fine and all, I just can't believe one level made THAT much of a difference.

Like Pluto said, depends on your weapon/armor skills. Sooner or later you are going to have to start Smithing them, or stuff like that happens.

Is it a glitch ?.....i doubt smithing would help that much if he is getting 1 shot ... does not make sense how he is fine at lvl19 and at lvl20 all goes heywire

Lowering diff helped, like I knew it would. Now it's a bit too easy though, wish I could split the difference. In any case, I only use bows as weapons, and then only until I can get the bound bow spell. My atros and followers usually deal the damage.

You never said what difficulty you were playing on.. Maybe put it down 1 level instead of 2? Anything below master is pretty easy.

And what do you mean it's the best chatacter you've ever made? As in pretty or something?

Almost any dragon can chomp you at 20 (even at 50) if you are silly enough to stand in front! Bandit marauders can hurt for awhile too. Try to get your follower to stand and make sure you can heal or use potions!

Make sure you pick the right perks if you are a warrior One-Two Handed if you are an archer make sure you pick Archery and Stealth

Same thing happened to me. So just try being more sneaky or something for a couple of levels.

Also update your health alot

Every day when I start the game enemies are doing too much damage. Skeevers can 1 hit kill me on legendary. To fix it I change the dificulty and resume game then I pause and change the dificulty back to how I had it. Most enemies are still able to kill me in 1. Skeevers now kill me in 3 hits.

You must be using extremely weak armour or have a very low health then, if you properly smith and invest perks in combat AND increase your health you should not be getting killed in 3 hits by what is essentially a rat. I do not think "dragon chomping" is level - dependant - Yesterday Uthred, level 36, in full stalrim (legendary) armour also got one - hit killed by this. Simply do look into the lions jaws.

Uthred still has a few enemies that can be tough, but it's few. I play on adept difficulty. Dragon priests are one thing that can kill him in one or two hits. Some powerful bandit lords, if he is not cautious, can still overwhelm him.

Uthred was my first character I ever really got an interest in Smiting for. Before that I hated the skill, because I thought it was so complicated and excessive. Uthred helped to teach me the trade and he is now a skill level 90 in it. Its worth it in the long run because you can craft powerful armour like stalrim or ebony. You only need skill level 70 to craft glass, the most powerful light armour.

If your on legendary difficulty, and you haven't invested in smiting, you probably are finding it very hard. Begin by turning down the difficulty, then begin to sharpen those skills!

I agree with some of the others.. Upgrading armor is a Must.. and your weapons.. If you don't you will be one shot. Also more health and stamina is always good. I really don't use the bound bow as it doesn't do all that much damage, even with conjuration leveled up. Instead work on Smithing and make an Ebony, Daedric or Dragonbone bow then upgrade it. Also don't forget to enchant both your weapons and armor.. and last but not least.. The Lord Stone can help reduce damage taken as well.

So Skills to level up to help you...

Enchanting-100(For all gear)

Smithing-100

Alchemy -100(For poisons, ones you can craft a re far better than random world ones)

I assume you been leveling Archery, so thats a no-brainer, and pick one type of armor.. Light or Heavy (And spend the perk points on it, IE, all 5 into protection given, plus all the way up to making it weightless).. Every level if you have the gold, buy 5 ranks from a trainer to help speed things along (leveling alchemy is a good way to make extra gold as you can sell all the potions you make at all the holds alchemist shops).

Remember, if you have all the content you can also make your own arrows which is tied to you respective Smithing level. Just Chop wood and have the right metals and voila.. bottomless arrows.
