They are roughly the same size, just different shape.

you should lurk more
p.s and ya it's just you
Except that diagram is wrong in saying Fallout 3 is smaller. Fallout 3 is bigger, but New Vegas uses more 'realistic borders'. New Vegas is more 'worldly' whereas Fallout 3 literally plays in a square. I'd say Fallout 3 is much better at a 'bleak Post-War experience', but New Vegas trumps 3 in a realistic portrayal of progressing life after the bomb. It's been proven New Vegas uses less space than 3 way back, but that doesn't mean much since this isn't a freaking competition. New Vegas is definitely less spacious than three, but it's a very lively world so you don't really put it into perspective whereas when I play Fallout 3, I enjoy the scenery but I get bored sometimes and think, 'I wish it was as lifelike as New Vegas, I'm sick of friendly tickers being Yao Gui and Mole Rats'.
New Vegas is smaller but better written and 3 is bigger, but very empty. I seriously don't get this stupid crap people try to pull that 'New Vegas is better than 3 is everyway, I has proof!!!!', New Vegas has its shortcomings, all games do, but it's still a better game than 3 IMO.
